The Spanish clubs treat these fixtures as an event. They turn out their squads, they put on refreshments afterward, and the post-game mixing between a team from Texas or California and a team from Valencia is consistently the part players talk about on the bus home.

The second reason is that Spain gives you a complete trip around the softball. A pure tournament trip is all diamond and hotel. A Spain tour alternates game days with Las Ventas, Toledo, the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, Sagunto castle above the Mediterranean, and a guided day through Gaudí's Barcelona. The route: Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona

The first competitive game comes on day three, against Club CBS Rivas in Rivas-Vaciamadrid, after a morning day-trip to Toledo. We deliberately do not schedule a game on day one. A team coming off a transatlantic flight does not play its best softball jet-lagged, and starting with a cultural day and an easy first evening sets the week up properly.

From Madrid the tour moves to Valencia for the biggest playing day of the trip, a double-header against the Selección Valenciana U22, a regional select side fielded by the Valencian softball federation, and Sófbol Fénix Valencia, the city's home club. Valencia is also where we build in the rest day: a morning on Malvarrosa beach or free in the city before the games, because two games in one afternoon is a real workload and the legs need it. The tour then runs up the coast to Catalonia for the closing fixture against CB i Sófbol Sant Boi in Sant Boi de Llobregat, one of the historic homes of softball and baseball in Spain, before a final guided day in Barcelona and the flight home.

The clubs you play

The four host clubs are the spine of the tour, and we name every one of them in writing before you fly, with the specific opponent age group, so there are no surprises on the ground. Club CBS Rivas is an established Madrid-region club and makes a strong, organized opener. The Selección Valenciana U22 is a select side rather than a single club, which gives your older players a genuinely competitive game against the best young softball players in the region. Sófbol Fénix Valencia is a warm, well-run home club and the second half of the Valencia double-header. CB i Sófbol Sant Boi, near Barcelona, sits in a town that has been central to Spanish softball and baseball for generations, and closing the tour there, the night of the Sant Joan festival in June, is the kind of finish that ends a trip on a high. We match each fixture to your team's age and level. If your group skews younger, we adjust the opponents accordingly.
